Both things were declined. Oh well. I really wanted to test the waters with the mixed media stuff. And now that I know about it, I can work on things during the year and save the best stuff for that...I'm definitely entering 3 mixed media things next year.
But I am definitely going to go and see what WAS accepted. The judge this year was an old retired art professor, so I figured it would be pretty conservative...not really reflective of the ENTIRE art community Maybe next year they will have a younger, more liberal judge.
A girl can hope, can't she?

Never give up! There is a lot of people that have had great success but had a not so smooth start.
yeah,yeah!...and you know you don't even need to hope, other opportunities will come whether or not there's a younger judge next time. keep going for it and keep that positive attitude girly!!
