Look what I got for my birthday!

Can you believe this? Allison made this doll quilt for me for my birthday! She had been huddled up in her room for days "making something", but I never once thought it would be a doll quilt. She sewed all of the patches together with her sewing machine, but hand sewed the rick-rack on, and embroidered on every single patch in one way or another. And of course put the buttons on. I don't think I could have gotten anything better!

And then she made me a cake! Devil's Food with cream cheese icing, which is my favorite. Ethan picked out the letters so it would say, "Happy Birthday Mom".

I think that deserves a couple of gratuitous pictures...

This has also been a very busy week for another reason...and a very good one at that. Gayla's sons (14 and 12) and their cousin (who is 19 and lives in FL but has been staying with the kids and Dave since she died) are here in town. Dave is in Chicago on business and last week, when it looked like Hurricane Dean was headed straight for the Texas Coast he wanted to get the boys out of Houston on the double! So, he booked them a hotel room here with me for a whole week-Sunday through Sunday! We've all been hanging out and doing stuff, and realizing I'm too old to keep up with all of these kids! lol! Actually, though, it just what I needed...a little piece of Gayla. I just hope they are enjoying it also. We are taking the day off today to rest and recover, and I'm just wondering what kind of plans they are making for me for tomorrow! LOL! Wish me luck and energy!
