Lots of Embroidery

Ever since Gayla died, I haven't really been doing much of anything...or even wanting to. The only thing I've really wanted to do is some handsewing...I don't know why...I guess because it's still somewhat creative yet brainless, ya know?

So, I did start hand piecing a little patchwork quilt together, but haven't gotten very far on that yet.

I have been doing TONS of embroidery, though! So here are some pics...

This is a pillow I made for my mom...it goes on the bed in the playroom.

The other thing I'm working on is decorating my laundry room...it's really long, and needs something on the walls, so, I decided to embroider little laundry related patterns, then "frame" them with a coordinating fabric, quilt them, then hang them up. I've been using the Aunt Martha's Hot Iron On Transfers, which is basically just the outline which is cute on it's own. One day though, I decided I could add more and jazz it up a little bit, so here are a few of those in various stages...

Still in the hoop:

The embroidery is finished for this one, but I haven't added any fabric around it yet. Notice the towels on the laundry line and in her 'hand'...all my very own design! LOL!

One more...All hand embroidered and I even hand sewed the fabric on around it! It never even touched the sewing machine!

There are several more in the works...you wouldn't believe how many animals there are out there doing laundry! lol! And I think it's going to be really cute when they are all done.

Your embroideries are adorable. Truly inspiring. I like the idea of decorating your laundry room, too! I have that blue kitty fabric too, and I love it!

I love all your embroideries--so cute and vintagey sweetness! It's a good way to while away the time.

I am very sorry to read about your friend Gayla--I can see it's been very hard on you :-( Hang in there.

I'll bet your laundry room will be adorable when you get it all decked out with the sweet embroidered pics!
Smiles, Karen

Hi Laurie

I'm sorry to read your very good friend Gayla has died. You probably feel like you are walking around with your right arm missing.

Your embroideries are SEW beautiful! I especially love your own design on the towels.

We have the same taste in Aunt Martha's patterns. I have all the ones you have. But yours are made and mine are all still neatly folded in the envelopes. One day, one day. You've inspired and motived me to do some embroidery! Today!
