Doll Quilt Swap 2-And a Bonus

This past Spring I signed up for the Doll Quilt Swap and enjoyed it so much that when DQS 2 came around, I signed right up again! Unfortunatly, my friend Gayla died on July 4, and I knew I would never be able to get my doll quilt out by the mail out date of July 18. So I emailed my "Swap Mama" Susan over at Chickenfoot and let her know I would have to drop out. She said, no problem, there is plenty of time to find a swap angel or even make a doll quilt herself to send to my partner. (All of our partners were secret.) She let Lisa-the "Swap Big Mama" who had organized both swaps- know what was going on. Since I had dropped out, I had totally assummed that I wouldn't be receiving a quilt, either. But, Susan and Lisa-two wonderful ladies with big hearts-decided that a little doll quilt surprise might be just what I needed so, they kept me paired with my partner that was sending to me, and Lisa made an extra quilt and sent that on to my receiving partner!

Imagine my surprise when THIS shows up in my mailbox!!!

This gorgeously wonderful perfectly appliqued doll quilt from Marisa over at Quilt Otaku! When I opened it, I immediately thought, "Uh-oh. Someone didn't get a quilt!" and I knew I should email Susan and Lisa and let them know, but, I didn't want to give this up! lol! But, I did the right thing and emailed and found out what they had done. So, yea!!! I get to keep the quilt! It really was a totally unexpected surprise, and exactly what I needed! It is absolutely beautiful Marisa! I don't know if you knew what had happened or what was going on, but either way, thank you so much!

This is a picture of her tag on the back. Even it is gorgeous. And don't worry about it at all, Marisa! It's definitely being well taken care of!

I just have to say that these Doll Quilt Swap Ladies totally ROCK! And now I can't wait for #3...there will be a #3, won't there?

Funny thing, that very same day, I received a little quilt that my husband had purchased from Calimity Kim. A gorgeous 'Alice in Wonderland Tea with Alice' quilt.

Here's a shot of the whole top:

And here is a detail shot of the embroidery she did of the tea party:

And the back, which is made from fabric covered in cupcakes!

And the adorable tag:

I forgot to take pictures of it, but, she also included a little tiny teacup and saucer, a little tiny Tootsie Roll lunchbox filled with Tootsie Rolls, one of the glittery pink cupcake ornaments that she makes and this totally fabulous collaged tag!

Can you believe two quilts in one day? Especially when I wasn't expecting any. I think it is very fair to say, "If you want to give Lauri a little 'pick me up', give her a doll quilt!" It definitely works!

See you in the September, for DQS3.

Hi Lauri.
So glad that you like the doll quilt I made for you. I was trying to make it with the cherry fabrics that you love. Glad that it could make you smile, and bring some cheer to you. Sounds like you could really use that lately, so great - it worked!

Hi Lauri
Now I know who my partner was! My quilt arrived today from Lisa which was obviously a big surprise. I understand completely why you pulled out and I just want to say how sad I was that you lost your beautiful friend. I can't imagine how that feels and I think that the book is a truly lovely idea.
Isn't Marisa's quilt gorgeous you lucky girl. Mind you, you should see the one Lisa did for me! Perfect!! I didn't get a chance to take a photo of it today but will blog about it tomorrow night.
I'm glad you were still very much a part of this swap and look forward to participating in DQS3 with you. x

Hey there! How sweet of someone to do that for you!

I am admiring these doll quilts. If they have a 3, will you let me know? I've been a quilter for 15+ years and it looks enticing.
