Annika's Internet Insurance

Annika is a 5 year old little girl who was born with a liver problem...I can't remember the technical name. She has already had 2 liver transplants, and is in need of another one. The problem is, she has pretty much maxed out her health insurance for this year. Therefore, her family has set up a COTA account at her hospital (the Children's Hospital in Chicago, I believe) to raise funds for her health care. *Please click on the Annika's Internet Insurance button on my sidebar to get all of the correct information!*

One of the things her friends and family are trying to do, is hold raffles for the people who donate money to the COTA fund...the money that is donated goes DIRECTLY into Annika's account at the hospital...not into anyone's hands. When a donation is made, you are given a receipt that you can then email to Andrea, who set up the website, and you get raffle tickets in different denominations up to the amount you donated. Again, just click on the link on my sidebar.

Artists and crafters have hand made and donated many things that are raffled off every couple of weeks. This past Saturday, some bookmarks that I donated...like the ones pictured above...were raffled off. There were 7 or 8 of them that I made, each one is one of a kind, and they raffled them off all together in one group. The winner of my bookmarks had basically paid $30 for them! Can you believe it??? I'm so excited!

I also made a necklace that will be raffled off in the next raffle, I think. Not really sure when, though. I just thought that was so cool that someone basically spent $30 on my stuff, not to mention the raffle tickets that were sold for it that didn't win, I had to let y'all know! (Wish I knew just how much actually went for the bookmarks!)

That sounds like SUCH a rewarding thing to do... if I ever get good at anything, maybe I'll donate to worthy causes one day :)

That was so nice of you to do. That little girl has been through so much for her tender age. I'll check out the link and see if I can help a bit.
